Connect Your Klaviyo Account

Connect Klaviyo in one click, add Omnisend or Mailchimp brands, and set each brand's default link.

Part 2 of 6 - watch all the tutorials in a row.

A brand is one ESP account. Connect every brand you upload for - one or three hundred - and you can send any email to any of them from Carvr. Brands are unlimited on every plan. Everything below happens on the Brands page in the left menu.

Step 1: Connect Klaviyo

1

Click "Add Brand", then Klaviyo

Carvr sends you to Klaviyo. Make sure you're signed into a Klaviyo login that has access to the account you want to connect.

2

Select the account, then click Allow

Klaviyo lists every account your login can reach. Pick the one for this brand and click Allow. That's the whole connection - no API key to create, copy, or paste.

3

You're back in Carvr with a new brand

The brand appears in your list, named after the Klaviyo account and with its website URL filled in, showing ✓ Connected via Klaviyo OAuth. Repeat for each client.

Step 2: Check the brand settings

Click the pencil on any brand to edit it. Two fields matter, plus two optional ones:

1

Brand Name

Pulled from Klaviyo, but purely internal - it's the label you see in your brand list when you upload. Rename it to whatever your team calls the client; nothing changes in Klaviyo and your clients never see it.

2

Website URL

The default link for every email section that isn't given its own. Klaviyo fills it with the account's site, which is fine if most emails point at the homepage. If this brand's emails usually land on a collection page or a landing page, put that here instead so you have less to change per email.

3

Template styles (optional)

Under Additional settings at the bottom of the form, Edit styles sets the fonts, sizes, mobile sizes and colours every template Carvr builds or updates for this brand follows: Klaviyo's Styles panel, including the spacing below each heading, apart from the email's own spacing. Copy from a template fills them all from one of the brand's Klaviyo templates, such as a base template your team keeps styled. Click Save styles. Your design's images don't change. The styles apply to new emails and to every update: updating an email brings its template in line with them, replacing what your team changed in Klaviyo for any style set here. A style left empty keeps the template's own.

4

Footer HTML (optional)

Shown once Auto-add HTML footer is on for this brand's ESP. Under Additional settings, click Edit footer, paste your footer's HTML and click Save footer, or generate it with the footer builder.

5

Update Brand

Click Update Brand to save. The Klaviyo Connection row also has a Disconnect button if you ever need to unlink the account.

Omnisend and Mailchimp

Klaviyo is the default, but a brand can be connected to Omnisend or Mailchimp instead. Neither offers a one-click login, so these use an API key:

  1. On Brands, click Add Brand and choose Omnisend or Mailchimp.
  2. Enter the brand name, its website URL, and the API key from that ESP's account settings.
  3. Save. The brand shows up in the same list and in the Figma plugin.

A brand is connected to exactly one ESP, and the send button in the editor and the plugin names it (Upload to Omnisend, Send to Mailchimp). To send the same design to a different ESP, pick a brand connected to it. To move a brand to another ESP, delete it and add it again.

Brands connected with a Private API Key

Before one-click connection, Klaviyo brands were set up by pasting a Private API key (starts with pk_) with three scopes: Accounts - Read, Images - Full Access, Templates - Full Access. Those brands keep working, and their edit form still shows the key so you can rotate it. To move one to the one-click connection, open the brand and click Connect Klaviyo in the Klaviyo Connection row.

Troubleshooting

"Authorization was declined"

You clicked Deny or the Klaviyo session expired mid-way. Use the Authorize with Klaviyo button on that screen to try again, or start over from Brands → Add Brand → Klaviyo.

Templates appearing in the wrong Klaviyo account

Each brand is tied to the Klaviyo account you picked on the selection screen. Check which brand is selected in the editor or the plugin before you send. If you connected the wrong account, open the brand, click Disconnect, then Connect Klaviyo again and pick the right one.

A brand shows as disconnected

The Klaviyo connection was revoked - usually from Klaviyo's side, or by Disconnect in Carvr. Open the brand and click Connect Klaviyo to reconnect; your emails and history stay put.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need a Klaviyo API key?

No. Klaviyo is connected with your Klaviyo login: click Add Brand, choose Klaviyo, pick the account, click Allow. Brands connected before OAuth may still show a Private API Key field in their settings - that still works, and you can switch them to the one-click connection any time.

What is a Brand in Carvr?

One ESP account: a Klaviyo account, an Omnisend account, or a Mailchimp account (each brand is connected to exactly one). It carries an internal display name and a default website URL. Brands are unlimited on every plan.

I manage several Klaviyo accounts. How do I set that up?

Create one brand per Klaviyo account. When you click Add Brand and choose Klaviyo, sign into Klaviyo with a login that has access to the account you want, and pick it on the selection screen. Repeat for the next client.

Does changing the brand name change anything in Klaviyo?

No. The brand name is purely internal - a nickname for your brand list in Carvr. Your clients never see it and it never appears in Klaviyo.

What is the website URL used for?

It is the default link for every email section that doesn't get a specific link. Set it to wherever most of this brand's email traffic should go - the homepage, a collection page, or a landing page.

What is the 100 image per day API limit?

Klaviyo enforces a limit of 100 image uploads per day per account - it applies to every tool uploading to that account, not just Carvr, and isn't something a Carvr plan changes. See the dedicated guide for how it maps to your emails and what to do if you hit it. Read the guide →
