Automatic Email Slicing for Klaviyo
Email slicer for Klaviyo, Omnisend and Mailchimp. Upload a finished email design from any tool, and Carvr cuts the sections, writes alt text, adds links and builds the template.
Carvr is a tool that automatically slices an email design for Klaviyo, cutting a finished design into sections and building a ready-to-send Klaviyo template from them, with links, alt text and compressed images, in about thirty seconds.

Design in Figma? Use the Figma plugin - it does all of this in one click. For every other tool (Photoshop, Illustrator, Canva, Sketch...), export the whole email as one image and follow the four steps in the editor: slice, alt text, links, upload.
Step 1: Pick the brand and upload
Select the brand at the top of the editor - this decides which ESP account receives the template and which link every section starts with. Then drag your design onto the drop zone or click it to browse. One full-length JPEG or PNG of the entire email, 1200px wide (a 2x export of a 600px design) for the best resolution. Carvr keeps every section at your design's exact size and never resizes it. Designs can be up to 2,400px wide and 30,000px tall, so very long emails fit in one upload.
Step 2: Slice
Click Slice All. Carvr cuts the design into sections the way a human would - small enough for each to have its own link, big enough that you're not uploading dozens of images. Then fine-tune:
- Move a line - drag it. Use the zoom control to place a cut exactly where you want it.
- Add a line - click on the image where two sections should split, for example between two calls to action that need different links.
- Delete a line - hover it and click the ✕.
- Split into columns - switch to the vertical line tool and click inside a section; the first click splits it in half, more clicks add columns, up to four per section.
- Size columns yourself - columns start equal. Click the lock beside the row to unlock it, then drag each line to where the design needs it, for example between two menu items so no word is cut. Click the lock again to make the columns equal.
- Undo / Redo - Ctrl/Cmd+Z and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z, or the toolbar buttons. Clear Cuts removes every line.
Tip: keep the footer as one section. You'll replace it in Klaviyo with your saved universal footer, so there's no point slicing its links apart every time. If you ever want the footer left out of the upload entirely, the Figma plugin's Hide Footer Section does that, and in the web editor you can right-click any section and choose Hide section: it stays in the editor, dimmed, but is left out of the upload. Better still, stop rebuilding the footer by hand: an owner or admin switches your ESP on under Auto-add HTML footer in Settings, then you paste the footer's HTML into Additional settings on the brand (the footer builder writes it for you). Carvr then adds it to the end of every template it builds for that brand, and shows it as the last row in the editor, where Hide footer leaves it off a single email and Add footer puts it back.
Step 3: Alt text
Click Alt Text All. AI looks at each section and writes descriptive alt text for it. Each section in the left panel has two indicators - link address and alt text - that light up as they're filled. Click any section to read or edit its text before uploading.
Step 4: Links
Every section starts with the brand's default website URL. To change one, click the section - or its number on the image - to open it in the left panel and type the link. Under a new link you'll see Set for all sections? Apply - click Apply to push it to every section, or leave it to change just that one. Sections you've edited are marked so you can see what's custom and what's still the default.
Subject line and preview text are set on the campaign in Klaviyo after your template is uploaded, not in Carvr.
Template name
The template name defaults to your file name. Click it at the top of the editor to change it - this is the name you'll see in Klaviyo's template list, so something like "Summer Sale - June" beats "final-v3".
Step 5: Upload
Click Upload to Klaviyo. Carvr crops each section, compresses the images, uploads them to your account, and creates a native drag-and-drop template with every section in order - about thirty seconds. A banner confirms it's uploaded and links you into Klaviyo.
The button names the ESP of the selected brand: for an Omnisend or Mailchimp brand it reads Upload to Omnisend or Upload to Mailchimp. A brand connects to one ESP, so to send the same design to another ESP, switch to a brand connected to it and upload again. If the brand has no ESP connected, the button is disabled until you connect one on the Brands page.
Next: load the template into a campaign or flow and swap in your footer.
Email History and updating a template
Every upload is saved to History in the left menu, with its template name, brand, and date, for everyone on your account. Click Open in Editor to bring an email back with its slice lines, links, and alt text intact. Change anything and the button now reads Update in Klaviyo: the existing template is updated in place - only the sections that changed are re-uploaded - rather than a new one created.
Two things to know: a campaign or flow that already loaded the template holds its own copy, so re-select the template there to pick up the change. And updates within 7 days of the original upload don't count as a new email against your plan.
Working with a single section
Click a section's number to open it in the left panel, then open the arrow menu next to it:
- Upload to Klaviyo - upload just that section's image to the brand's Klaviyo image library (Klaviyo brands only)
- Download section - save that section's image to your computer
- Download all sections - save every section
Handy when one section changed after the email is already customized inside a campaign: upload the one new image and swap it in Klaviyo, without touching the rest.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is there a tool that automatically slices an email design for Klaviyo?
Yes. Carvr slices a finished email design automatically, from the Figma plugin or from one PNG or JPG exported from Photoshop, Canva or any other tool. It finds the cuts the way a person would, compresses each section, writes alt text, adds links and builds a native drag-and-drop template in Klaviyo. It sends to Omnisend and Mailchimp too. Free for 5 email designs a month.
What image formats can I upload?
JPEG or PNG, one full-length image of the whole email. Export at 1200px wide (2x of a 600px design) for the sharpest result - from Figma that is a 2x JPEG export; from Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva, set the export width to 1200. Carvr never resizes your design, and accepts images up to 2,400px wide and 30,000px tall.
How does Slice All decide where to cut?
It looks for the places a human would cut: background color changes, content boundaries, and quiet zones between sections. Sections come out small enough that each can carry its own link, but not so small that you end up with dozens of images.
Can I undo a change?
Yes - Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes the last change to slice lines and Ctrl/Cmd+Shift+Z redoes it. There are Undo and Redo buttons in the toolbar too, and Clear Cuts removes every line to start over.
How do I split a section into columns?
Switch the toolbar from the horizontal to the vertical line tool and click inside a section: the first click splits it in half, further clicks add columns, up to four per section. Columns start equal. To size them yourself, click the lock beside the row and drag the lines; click it again to make them equal. Hover a line and click ✕ to remove it.
What is Alt Text All?
It uses AI to look at each section and write descriptive alt text for it - what screen readers announce and what shows before images load. You can edit any section's text before uploading.
How do I send to Omnisend or Mailchimp?
Connect the brand to that ESP on the Brands page (Add Brand, then Omnisend or Mailchimp). A brand is connected to one ESP, so once you pick an Omnisend or Mailchimp brand at the top of the editor the button reads Upload to Omnisend or Upload to Mailchimp and the template lands there.
Where does the template end up?
In Klaviyo under Content → Templates, on the Email saved tab, ready to load into any campaign or flow. See Using Templates in Klaviyo. For an Omnisend or Mailchimp brand, it's in that ESP's saved templates.
