Using Templates in Klaviyo
Find your template, load it into a campaign or flow, swap in your universal footer, and push edits back from Carvr.
Part 5 of 6 - watch all the tutorials in a row.
Where your template lives
Every email you send from Carvr lands in Klaviyo as a template - not in a campaign, not in a flow, which means you can use it in either. Find it under Content → Templates on the Email saved tab (Email library is Klaviyo's stock designs). After a web app upload, the banner links straight there, and so does Use in Klaviyo in the Figma plugin.
Using it in a campaign
Create the campaign
Campaigns → Create campaign, choose Email, and pick your audience.
Choose your Carvr template
When Klaviyo asks which template to start from, open the Email saved tab, click your template, and click Use template. It opens in the drag-and-drop editor with every section in order, each with its link and alt text already set.
Edit if you like
Hover a section to see its alt text; click it to change the link. You can edit links here or set them in Carvr before sending - whichever you prefer. This is a copy of the template, so nothing you do in the campaign changes the template itself.
Swap in your footer
The last section is your footer as an image. Delete it, open Universal in the blocks sidebar, and drag your saved footer into its place. Your unsubscribe, social, and legal links are live again. (Turn on Hide Footer Section in the plugin and there's nothing to delete: the template arrives without the footer image.) If the brand uses Auto-add HTML footer, skip this step. The last block is already your live HTML footer.
Subject line, preview text, send
Click Next, set the subject line and preview text on the campaign, send a test, and schedule or send.
Using it in a flow
Identical, just from the other side. Add an email to your flow; when Klaviyo asks whether to open a template, choose your Carvr template from Email saved. Edit, swap the footer, done.
Editing the template from Carvr
If a slice line landed in the wrong place, a section needs its own link, or a design changed, fix it in Carvr rather than rebuilding in Klaviyo.
Open the email in the editor
Go to History in the left menu - every email your team has uploaded is there. Click Open in Editor on the one you want. (From the Figma plugin, Edit in Carvr takes you to the same list.)
Adjust lines, links, alt text
Drag a slice line to move it, click to add one, hover and click the ✕ to remove it, or switch to the vertical tool to split a section into columns. Click a section's number to open its link address and alt text in the left panel. Ctrl/Cmd+Z undoes anything.
Click "Update in Klaviyo"
The existing template is updated in place - only the sections that changed are re-uploaded, and no duplicate is created.
Important: updating the template does not update campaigns or flow emails that already loaded it - those hold their own copy. Re-select the template in the campaign to pull in the change.
Frequently Asked Questions
Where is my template in Klaviyo?
Content → Templates, on the "Email saved" tab (the "Email library" tab is Klaviyo's stock designs). It is a template, not a campaign or a flow email - you load it into either.
I edited the template inside my campaign. Why didn't the template change?
Loading a template into a campaign or flow makes a copy. Edits inside the campaign stay in the campaign; edits to the template (including updates pushed from Carvr) don't reach campaigns that already loaded it. Re-select the template in the campaign to pick up changes.
Can I edit the template after uploading?
Yes, in two places. In Klaviyo's drag-and-drop editor you can change any link or alt text, add text blocks, variables, and product blocks. In Carvr you can move slice lines and change links and alt text, then click Update in Klaviyo to update the template.
Can I add Klaviyo variables to the template?
Yes. It is a native drag-and-drop template, so add text blocks with first name, product recommendations, or any profile property like you would in any Klaviyo template.
Can I use the template in automated flows?
Yes. When you add an email to a flow, Klaviyo asks which template to open - choose your Carvr template. Editing works exactly like a campaign.
Does Carvr add my footer for me?
It can. An owner or admin turns on Auto-add HTML footer for your ESP in Settings, then you save the footer's HTML on the brand (the footer builder can write it). From then on Carvr adds it as the last block of every template for that brand. Without it, your footer arrives as the last image section: delete it and drag your saved footer in from Universal Content.
